MEN’S MINISTRY AT ST. THOMAS, RONDEBOSCH




One of the notable features of the St. Thomas family is the relationship between the men of the congregation, characterized by a quiet camaraderie between men across different age groups. Our men play a very active role in the life of the church, taking part in activities as diverse as leading courses and groups, playing music and singing in the music groups and choir, and flipping pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.



Once a year the men of the parish take a weekend away from home and family activities to attend a Men’s retreat, which is normally held at Volmoed, near Hermanus. This is a wonderful time for exploring and strengthening our faith, for breaking from our normal weekend routines, and for enjoying fellowship and friendship with other men, in the presence of God.



We also hold a Men’s Breakfast at 6:30am on the first Tuesday of each month, where a group of men enjoy a meal, fellowship and Christian sharing before the working day starts. We sometimes also have the opportunity to listen to an interesting guest speaker at the Men’s Breakfast meeting. Attending the Men’s Breakfast is a great way to meet some of the men of the congregation and to draw closer into the St Thomas family.






 


Open Invitation to all Men (about 16 & Older!)

The men of St Thomas's Church (and your friends) are invited to a men's fellowship group to meet each fortnight starting on the 19th October. We are embarking on a 24 DVD series titled "The Quest for Authentic Manhood". The series helps men understand their masculine identity and shows them how the pursuit of authentic manhood improves their every day lives. This benefits them, and their family, friends and colleagues. Each DVD is about 45 minutes long followed by a short discussion and tea or coffee.
